Signs of “Out of Control Sexual Behavior”.

Looking at addiction only from the standpoint of how often you engage, can keep you in denial. The following are some traits associated with addictive and compulsive behaviors. These alone don’t necessarily guarantee that you have a problem, but it can help you to begin to look at the possibility that you might have a problem.

Do you feel preoccupied or distracted by your sexual thoughts or activity?

Have you on multiple occasions kept hidden or lied about money that you spent on having sex?

Does your significant other(s), friends, or family ever worry or complain about your sexual behavior?

Do you have trouble stopping your sexual behavior when you know it is inappropriate and/or dangerous?

Do you keep the extent or nature of your sexual activities hidden from your friends and/or partners?

Do your sexual encounters place you in danger of arrest?

Sexual addicts prioritize sex over family, friends, and work. Sex becomes the organizing principle of addicts’ lives. They are willing to sacrifice what they cherish most in order to preserve and continue their unhealthy behavior.

No single behavior pattern can define a sex addict.

However, when these sexual behaviors have taken control of addicts’ lives and their behaviors have become unmanageable this may indicate the presence of sexual addictions.

Some common behaviors include.

Compulsive masturbation, compulsive heterosexual and homosexual relationships, pornography, prostitution, exhibitionism, voyeurism, indecent phone calls, child molesting, incest, rape, and violence.
