Ever since I can remember, I have had a problem concentrating or focusing on anything that demanded my attention. I struggled with school, with my marriage, even with my children. I started therapy with Mitchel, and am finally starting to uncover ways to deal with my anxiety and attention issues.”

What is the Meaning of ADD & ADHD?

ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) are mental disorders that usually begin in childhood, and often continues into adulthood. ADD/ADHD have symptoms such as an inability to concentrate or listen, or can be easily distracted, which potentially leads to relationship problems, addictions and self-esteem issues. Men are more likely to have these disorders than Women. Other symptoms of ADD/ADHD may include poor time management and organization skills, setting goals, issues controlling anger, procrastination, boredom, depression, and handling anything that requires commitment.

The difference between ADD and ADHD is that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder usually includes impulsive and/or hyperactive behavior along with the above other symptoms. In the past, it was believed to only be two types of attention disorders, ADD or ADHD. We now have come to realize there are five types of Attention Deficit Disorders, and all are controllable and treatable with or without the use of medications.
